Varsity Victory Volunteers
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the University of Hawaii ROTC was called to duty and mobilized into the Hawaii Territorial Guard (HTG). Six weeks later, all men of Japanese ancestry were dismissed from the HTG and classified as Class C-Enemy Aliens. In response, the Varsity Victory Volunteers was established. The VVV built barracks, smashed rocks in the quarry and performed other menial labors. They declared: "We know but one loyalty and that is to the Stars and Stripes. We wish to do our part as loyal Americans. . ."
